GAEL Scholarships Opportunity
As member of the Greater Atlanta Electric League, yourself, your dependants, or your spouse are eligible to win one of several scholarships our organization awards annually. Below you will find information concerning eligibility, selection procedures, and time line for the 2011 scholarships. Please contact the voting member from your organization if you have any questions about the process or you can call Shayna Abbas with the Greater Atlanta Electric League at 678-309-1124. Each member firm (company) will automatically be able to send in one applicant for the scholarship program. However, for every $250 contributed to the Scholarship Fund the member firm (company) will get an additional applicant. The voting member of the member firm (company) must select the best candidates and forward to GAEL (address will be provided in the application).
ELIGIBILITY
- All full-time employ, employee’s dependent or spouse of employee of a member firm (company) are eligible for the scholarship. This also includes children and/or grandchildren of employees of a member firm (company). An employee must have completed one full year of full-time employment by the deadline for submitting the scholarship application.
- The parent/ guardian of the applicant must be a resident of Georgia.
- The applicant must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in a full or part-time program of studies at any accredited 2 or 4 year post-secondary school. The program is for graduate or undergraduate study.
- The applicant must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average.
- To verify eligibility, the application must be signed by a GAEL Voting Member.
SELECTION PROCEDURES
- Applicants must complete the application form, which GAEL provides to the voting member. In addition to GPA and SAT scores, school extracurricular activities and full or part-time work experience will be considered.
- All applicants must submit a transcript. High school students and those who have completed less than one (1) full semester of college must submit a high school transcript. Applicants who have completed at least 1 full semester of college must submit the most recent college transcript.
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from a school official.
TIME LINE
- December 2010
Scholarship Eligibility Requirements and Application sent out to all voting members via e-mail. It’s the responsibility of the voting member to communicate this e-mail to his or her employees.
- March 2011
Applications most be post-marked by March 1st, 2011 Donation’s need to be received by March 11th 2011
- The end of March 2011
Winners will be selected and contacted.
- April 2011
Winners are awarded at the Scholarship luncheon on April 11th.
